5.4 DISCUSS ISSUES RELATED TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY
Sustainable development refers to development and
consumption in a sustainable way, such that our resources are not depleted and
there is nothing left for future generations. As what I can see from this
sustainable development in tourism and hospitality industry, there’s a lot of
issues that can be highlighted as well as can be solve. A clear understanding of the issues surrounding climate change, global warming, air and
water pollution, the loss of biodiversity, and global poverty is essential for
every future manager in the hospitality industry.
In other word, the
issues can lead to natural disaster which mean in this issues, society also
need to cooperate to get a sustainable development in tourism and hospitality. This
comes in light of the fact that we are connected with both the environment and
societies as well.
There’s a few issues
that highlighted to you that can cause negative effect to tourism and
hospitality industry.
Issues 1:
The effects of
climate change in tourism and hospitality industry can be manifold, and can be
both negative and positive. If you and your organization are unprepared, you
may suffer from the negative effects, while being unable to get any possible
benefit from positive effects. Next the climate change also important for many
types of tourism, while climate change can make the variability more extreme.
If the climate change happen, tourism and hospitality industry are literally
will face the high risk.
Issues 2:
To sustainable
development in this industry there are so many challenge that need to be face. Global
warming is the slow increase in the average temperature of the earth’s
atmosphere because an increased amount of the heat striking the earth from the
sun is being trapped in the atmosphere and not radiated out into space.
Issues 3:
Tourism, especially
nature tourism, is closely linked to biodiversity and the attractions created
by a rich and varied environment. It can also cause loss of biodiversity when
land and resources are strained by excessive use, and when impacts on
vegetation, wildlife, mountain, marine and coastal environments and water
resources exceed the carrying capacity. This loss of biodiversity in fact means
loss of tourism potential.
Tourism and hospitality contributes to the perecentage of our country income. The world is making huge strides in overcoming global poverty. Since 1990, a quarter of the world has risen out of extreme poverty. Now, less than 10 percent of the world lives in extreme poverty, surviving on $1.90 a day or less
Positive:
These impact occur
because tourism, both international and domestic, bring about an intermingling
of people from diverse social and cultural background, and also a considerable
spatial redistribution of spending
power, which has a significant impact on
the economy of the destination.
Negative:
This will lead to
decreasing economy financial in some particular country because finance is so
important for every country.
Strict the law as
well as cut off the things that unnecessary such as keep going the
infrastructure.
